In the meantime check out the posters below and let us know what you think! Be sure to head back to Geek Girl Authority for your coverage of the trailer! While the posters may be Harley-centric, we’re getting more from the Birds of Prey soon since the first official trailer is said to drop tomorrow. These posters confirm she has at least one of them! It’s unclear if the names of the hyenas will remain ‘Bud’ and ‘Lou’ from the Batman: The Animated Series but nonetheless, Harley has her babies and I’m so excited to see what they do with them. That’s right! In our breakdown of the theater-only teaser, we noted that there looked like there were two hyenas beside Harley while she was driving in a car down the streets of Gotham. One of the biggest takeaways from the poster is that Harley has a hyena. She might have left him, but he’s not completely out of her life it seems. It’s also worth pointing out that her tattoos have some adjustments on them namely that she’s crossed off a couple “Puddin'”s – but not all. In one of the posters we can see that she’s wearing denim shorts underneath, so she’s able to remove the pants from the overalls somehow and keep the top half on. The first part features gold overalls with the Harlequin print on them and a pink tank with some golden boots to match. We see a brand new outfit from Harley Quinn ( Margot Robbie) in the posters. While the posters don’t feature the rest of the girl gang, we’ll be seeing them very, very soon.įirst, let’s start out with some fun notes. Birds of Prey (and The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), also known as BOP, has released 4 new posters to start getting conversation going for the film. She returns in The Suicide Squad as a member of the titular team. Quinn is also the main protagonist of Birds of Prey, where she attempts to get over breaking up with the Joker. She first appeared in Suicide Squad as a member of Task Force X. The poster of Harley on the police car has a neon glow like Drive or Brazil, with their themes of isolation, belonging, violence, and a desire for freedom. It’s been a hot minute since we’ve heard from the clown princess of crime. Harley Quinn appears in current DC Films, portrayed by Margot Robbie. That same poster uses the bold yellow reminiscent of Kill Bill Vol 1 (and elements of the trailer seem Tarantino-like). The pink gum on the sole of Harley’s boot reminds me of the pink bar of soap in the Fight Club poster – which then leads me to ponder on Harley’s mental state in the film. I would assume the marketing is using audience familiarity with Harley Quinn from the movie Suicide Squad, and of course with Margot Robbie herself to draw people in – then in later releases introduce the other characters.įor me, the posters contain homages to designs or imagery from previous posters or films. But remember, the VAST majority of movie-goers won’t be aware of these characters. The official Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn posters make a bold statement with their vivid colours and striking imagery.įour recently released posters feature Harley Quinn – which some fans may think odd given the range of other well known comic book characters in the film.
